Mamma-isms

I used to make fun of moms I know who'd fight with their under-5-yr-old daughters. Well. I confirm. Karma's a bitch. #MommyTruths

"Hubby's not in town for hugs'n'kisses day, but he did leave Mia for squeezing purposes so I guess I'll skip cheating on him. This time."

"They say motherhood will make you immune to your own child's pooping surprises. Yeah, ok. If you say so. #MommyMyths"

"Pedestrians are as scary as cars! They see you struggle with a stroller on #Beirut's tight sidewalks and will race you and shove you in a wall."

"Baby, Mama loves you to death but you need to stop squashing Mama's bladder because she's fed up of rushing to the bathroom every 2 minutes!"
Feb 8, 2012

"Mia uses her books as steppers. That's not exactly how I viewed her climbing the ladder of education, but whatever."

"I love #Hamra and #Beirut more than any place in the world. Can't live elsewhere. But I take Mia out for fresh air and we end up with fresh CO2."

"Just love Mia these days :D Don't get me wrong, love her to death every minute of every day but she's so funny and freakin' awesome lately! :)"

"My Mia looks like a boy. Her papa took her to get her ears pierced a few days ago. Now she looks like a boy with earrings. #JustSaying"

"So yesterday, Mia was looking at her balloons’ reflection in the mirror, insisting with her arm stretched towards them “baddeh, baddeh” (I want, I want). Then she suddenly stops. Turns around to look at the actual balloons behind her. Smiles. Stretches her arm towards them and screams “baddeeeeh”. My baby knows the difference between real and reflection. That may be boring to you but to me it’s just plain genius! Or someone’s reincarnation… Go figure! Oh and while we’re on the topic of Mia’s language, she now uses “baddeh” (I want) and “ma baddeh” (I don’t want) in their right context. Every time. At first I thought it was just a fluke, but nope. We’re talking now. The other day at the ER she screamed at the nurse and doctor: “ma baddeeeeeeeh ma baddeeeeeeeeeh” as they tried to do stuff to her I don’t even want to talk about right now. I’m focusing on fun memories, thank you. She also says “botti” when she wants to wear her boots which is exactly right since we speak to her in French and by “botti” she means “botte” or “bottine” depending on how we’re dressing her. She also knows the word “socks” in all languages but can’t say it yet. Oh and she can locate her nose, ears, head, eyes and feet. Yep. That’s MY super-smart baby."

"#Beirut, I love your power cuts, especially when I'm on my way to check my feverish baby's temperature. A little notice goes a long way. Thx"

"Jealous much? Mia categorically refused to sit in her stroller. We got Téa to take a ride. Who's Téa? Her doll. Now Mia's in the stroller."

"While Mia was Skyping with her dad, she went to the Home screen and took icons out of their folders. She made a virtual mess in my iHome."

I am very pleased to report we had our shots and we did not cry for one second. To be completely accurate, we cried for exactly one second at the first shot. And then for exactly three seconds at the second one (probably thinking: my God, it seems they're planning to keep on doing this to me) and once we were up in maman's arms, not one tear or cry anymore :D abadaaaaay mimeyteh! ♥ Also, we held our bottle all by ourselves and drank water on our own, like 6 months old ladies do :) ♥ Should I also mention we flirted with the doctor? Yes, every time mimeyeh sees him, she's all smiles and sunshines! :D Also, we held our bottle all by ourselves and drank water on our own, like 6 months old ladies do :) ♥ Should I also mention we flirted with the doctor? To celebrate her 6 months, mimeyeh held her bottle and drank water all by herself yesterday! Cheers! She also managed to eat her toes! Finally!!

This girl couldn't be more like her mom if she tried!! This morning, she stretched for 10 minutes, opened her eyes wide, blinked twice... And fell right back asleep!! LooL! Totally love her! ♥

Mia: "I've decided not to sleep tonight... What's happening in Cairo's too exciting.... So I'm gonna make sure my parents don't sleep either... They wouldn't want to miss it; I'm sure they'll thank me later :)"

Tunis and Egypt are contagious. Last night bebeyteh stuck to her guns and rebelled against the system, against the tyrants enforcing that unjust system and even against her own nature: She categorically refused to sleep before 4am when she decided it was OK to finally take a break.

mimeyteh had her first shots earlier today: 7 vaccines at once! When the pediatrician said both shots would hurt badly, I would have never imagined the screams would be that horribly painful. I think I cried more than bebeyteh :(

Despite the loved ones we've lost, the pain and emotional roller coaster I can honestly say THANK YOU GOD for the most wonderful birthday: this year I celebrate with my angel. She's magic and makes any hardship bearable Even politics ;) lol

Mia: "One can never stop teaching others...Just today I had lunch with Mamma Mia. She performed her duties perfectly until the bottle was empty. So then, as usual, I kept looking at her and opening my mouth. And what would you like her to say? "No Mia, no more!" So I keep staring her in the eyes and opening my mouth and moving my head right and left hoping she finally does something. And she did. She made me some more milk! I just couldn't believe my eyes! OK, fine. I drank the milk. Then what? Come on woman! Again, the staring in the eyes, the mouth opening, the head moving right and left... "No Mia, you've had much more than your usual portion. It's enough!" It seems Mamma Mia is really slow sometimes, so I go again: eyes stare, mouth open, head right left. What do you think she did? She put some water in the remaining milk and gave it to me!! My God!! Please someone help me!! I drank a little and spit the bottle. Will she ever get it? Will she understand? I keep opening my mouth and she keeps shoving the bottle until finally she realizes that there is something wrong and calls my téta. Finally someone I can talk to. And who understands! In a second téta gets my pacifier and finally I can go to sleep! It was about time!! Mamma Mia still has a lot to learn. And it looks like it's gonna be a long 18-years before I can run away!
